God Is Not a Vibe – He’s a Voice
God Is Not a Vibe – He’s a Voice
There’s a trend going around—God is a vibe. A feeling. A rush. A sweet song during worship. A moment of goosebumps when the choir hits that perfect key. But let’s be real: if God was only a vibe, what happens when the feelings fade?
A lot of young believers today are living from one spiritual high to another. Camp meetings. Conferences. All-night prayers. But between those mountain-top moments, they feel dry, distant, and sometimes even doubtful.
Let me remind you: God is not a mood. He is a voice.
Feelings Are Fleeting. God's Voice Is Faithful.
Elijah, the mighty prophet, once expected God in the wind, the earthquake, and the fire. But God wasn't in the vibe. He was in the still small voice (1 Kings 19:11–13).
Some of us are so used to the noise that we’ve forgotten how to recognize the whisper. And whispers aren't loud—they're intimate. They require you to draw close. That’s where God wants you.
Vibes Can Entertain You. God’s Voice Sustains You.
When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, He didn't survive by vibes. He said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4).
The enemy will not back down because your last worship session felt good. But he will flee when you start living by what God said, not just what you felt.
How Do I Hear God’s Voice as a Young Person?
1. Quiet Your Soul.
Turn down the noise. Put the phone on silent. God rarely shouts above your playlist or timeline.
2. Open Your Bible.
His written Word is the clearest sound you’ll ever hear from Him. Start in John or Proverbs.
3. Practice Obedience.
God speaks more when He sees you act on what He already said.
4. Stay Accountable.
Godly mentors, spiritual friends, and pastors help you stay tuned to the right frequency.
This Week’s Challenge
Make time every day—even if it’s just 10 minutes—to sit in silence and ask God, “What are You saying to me today?” Then write it down. You may be surprised how clearly He speaks when you’re willing to listen.
Reflection Question:
> When was the last time you heard God—not in a service, but in your personal space? What did He say?
